The third quarter of 2021 saw interesting trends among the top Film & Television apps on the Android platform in Ghana. Here’s a closer look at the performance of Showmax 1.0, StarTimes ON-Live TV, Football, Netflix, DStv, and 2С TV.
Showmax 1.0 experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, starting with around 42.9K in late June, peaking at approximately 70.8K in mid-September, and closing the quarter at about 53.9K. Weekly active users for the app varied between 363K and 462K, showing a peak in early July and another in mid-September.
StarTimes ON-Live TV, Football saw a significant drop in weekly downloads from 408.6K in late June to a low of 10.7K in mid-July. However, it recovered towards the end of the quarter, reaching around 51.7K in the last week of September. Active users also showed a downward trend initially, falling from 531K in late June to around 80.1K in early September, before climbing back to approximately 105K by the end of the quarter.
Netflix had a relatively stable performance in weekly downloads, increasing from 7.7K at the start of the quarter to a high of 20.8K in late August, and then stabilizing around 11.8K by the end of September. The app’s active users grew steadily from 240K in late June to a peak of about 320K at the end of August, before settling at around 288K by the end of September.
DStv maintained a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at 7.4K in late June and rising to approximately 10.5K by the end of September. The number of active users for the app also showed a positive trend, increasing from around 121K at the start of the quarter to about 133K by the end of September.
2С TV had a modest but steady performance in weekly downloads, starting at 8.4K in late June, dipping to a low of 3.3K in mid-July, and then recovering to about 7.3K by the end of September. Active users for the app remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 20K and 27K throughout the quarter.
